“Notes of Caramel, Dark Chocolate, Toffee Sweetness”
This review of Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters - Espresso Yourself, are my own comments and overview of this bean, The coffee was purchased by myself from their website.

First Impressions This is the second lot of Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters beans I have had. The first batch of beans were the "You've Got A Blend In Me. This was another firm favourite of mine so decided to purchase others from this roaster to try. So as you can see from the image above the beans were sent through the post 2nd class in a branded box. I love their simple box and great use of the brands postal slogan, Bean Shopping? The box is fully recyclable so a good tick from me, it's sad that I chuck these boxes in the recycling bin with all the effort these roasters have put into this packaging.

On opening the box, The simple but effective branded bags instantly made me want to get the grinder warmed up. As you can see there was two bags inside and the other I will be writing about soon.
Roasters Description The description which is taken from the roasters themselves From their website. "Our house espresso is a modern take on a classic. It’s a blend of two distinctive coffees, which combine to produce an espresso with a deep, rich chocolatey body, pronounced toffee sweetness, a complex fruity edge, and a hint of bittersweet cocoa at the finish. It’s well balanced and combines beautifully with milk, where it adds punchy caramel, smooth milk chocolate notes and gets even sweeter. The blend changes a few times a year, in order to best make use of changing coffee seasons in different parts of the world, but the sweet & smooth character of the blend remain the same. We roast more of this than any other coffee, and it’s a great intro to who we are and what we’re about".
Brewing Guide For my Espresso I used 28g of beans and extracted over 30 seconds.

The beans are of a darker roast with a prominent smell. I keep my grind to the usual pointer of 0 on my Eureka Mignon. I try to keep this consistent throughout my beans. I usually dial in after the first cup but these are perfect at this point.

First Cup (Naked Porta-filter Double Shot) After grinding my first lot of beans. I wasn't sure I would like these as I'm not a fan of the bitterness of dark chocolate and this was the first note I could smell. The coffee with milk as a flat white was a little sour, and harsh for my taste. After that first cup I wasn't really sure I wanted another. Giving every bean the benefit of the doubt I pulled another. Second Cup (Naked Porta-filter Double Shot) I treated myself to an espresso, to get the feel of the notes, The dark chocolate is prominent in the smell and taste. The bean provides a great crema. This certainly hits the spot. Third Cup + Beyond As any review should be this is completely honest, I didn't like this as a go to coffee for my Saturday Morning delight, so have now taken this to work and use it within my Aeropress. As an Aeropress extraction this coffee is lovely.

Would I recommend? Yes Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters are a great roaster and very reasonably priced (£5.50 250g) As an Aeropress daily this is perfect! I'm looking forward to trying others from this roaster.
