Rave Coffee Roasters – Rwanda Bumbogo No99

“Notes of Raspberry, Bubblegum, Assam Tea”

This is an honest coffee bean review of Rave Coffee Roasters - Rwanda Bumbogo No99, these are my own comments and overview of this bean, The coffee was purchased by myself from their website.
First Impressions
This is probably my third or fourth order from Rave Coffee Roasters that I have had. Im a massive fan of their Fudge blend but also ordered three other batches to try, This the first batch of single origin beans that I have ordered from them, they certainly didn't disappoint.

So as you can see from the image above the beans were sent through the post 1st class in a branded box. The 1% for the planet stuck to box is new since I last ordered so investigated a little into this. Whether they make a profit or not 1% goes through to help the planet we all live on.

Watch the little video for more info they are certainly helping the planet and it's a gorgeous film.

Rave as a company also uses renewable energy, it's a great sign when the roaster is giving so much back.
1% For The Planet
On opening the box, The simply designed bags were stapled with a coffee description attached, and they also included a free bag of pretzels :)
Roasters Description
The description which is taken from the roasters themselves From their website.

"The Bumbogo washing station’s natural processed coffee showcases everything there is to love about African coffee. A red fruit flavour and bubblegum sweetness is more often associated with Ethiopian coffee, and the tea-like aromatics with a high grown Kenyan. The achievements of the washing station to create a complex and ‘clean’ tasting coffee using the natural method should be highly praised."

The beans are of a light/medium roast with a clean, fresh, crisp smell. I keep my grind to the usual pointer of 0 on my Eureka Mignon. I try to keep this consistent throughout my beans. I usually dial in after the first cup but these are perfect at this point.

First Cup
(Naked Porta-filter Double Shot)
Grinding my first brew is always exciting, the aroma was clean, crisp filling my kitchen with that freshly ground coffee smell. As normal my milk was textured to 52 degrees celcius. Rotating the milk in the jug when textured. Extracting the grind gave a blonder crema throughout the extraction.
The complexity of this coffee was just how I like it, very clean but a floral aroma.

The cup was amazing! An instant hit with the berry notes, bubblegum and clean taste.

Second Cup
(Naked Porta-filter Double Shot)
I treated myself to an espresso, to get the feel of the notes, The raspberry notes and assaam tea gives a clean flavoursome coffee.

Third Cup + Beyond
As any review should be this is completely honest, It's a big win for me the bag is nearly complete after 2 days!
Would I recommend?
Yes, Yes, Yes Coffee Roasters are a great roaster and slightly more expensive priced (£9.00 250g)
I'm looking forward to trying others from this roaster.
