Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters – You’ve Got A Blend In Me

“Notes of Blackberry, Cocoa, Liquorice”

This is an honest coffee bean review of Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters - You've Got A Blend In Me, these are my own comments and overview of this bean, The coffee was purchased by myself from their website.
First Impressions
This is the second lot of Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters beans I have had. This batch of beans "You've Got A Blend In Me. This was another firm favourite roaster of mine so decided to purchase to review.

So as you can see from the image above the beans were sent through the post 2nd class in a branded box. I love their simple box and great use of the brands postal slogan, Bean Shopping?

This box has now been fully recycled so a good tick from me, it's sad that I chuck these boxes in the recycling bin with all the effort these roasters have put into this packaging.

I generally keep the beans inside the box until I'm ready to rip open the bags of beans.

On opening the box, The simple but effective branded bags instantly made me want to get the grinder warmed up. As you can see there was two bags inside and the other is reviewed here

Roasters Description
The description which is taken from the roasters themselves From their website.

"You’ll fall in love with this espresso blend, and there’s enough going on to keep you interested from first sip to last. It’s more complex than our house espresso, more adventurous and it’ll rewards a little bit more work on your part. Look for a big fruity punch (we get blackberry), licquorice and spice notes creeping in, and a wonderful cacao on the finish. It’ll punch through milk, getting more chocolatey as it goes, and it’ll remind you why you fell for coffee in the first place."

You'll Fall in love with these beans perfect for all day drinking.
Brewing Guide
For my Espresso I used 26g
of beans and extracted over 22 seconds.
Tasting Notes
Notes of blackberry, cocoa, liquorice.
Component One
50% Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Konga, natural process
Component Two
30% Brazil Gerezim Estate Yellow Catuai, pulped natural process
Component Three
20% Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Konga, fully washed process

The beans are of a medium roast with a clean smell. I keep my grind to the usual pointer of 0 on my Eureka Mignon. I try to keep this consistent throughout my beans. I usually dial in after the first cup but these are perfect at this point.

First Cup
(Naked Porta-filter Double Shot)
After grinding my first lot of beans. I couldn't wait to get it extracted, the aroma was clean filling my kitchen with that fresh vibrant coffee smell. As normal my milk was textured to 52 degrees celcius. Rotating the milk in the jug when textured. Extracting the grind gave a blonder crema throughout the extraction.
The complexity was of similar nature to the Caravan Roasters - The Daily I had previously tried.

The cup certainly didn't disappoint! An instant hit with the berry notes and clean taste.

Second Cup
(Naked Porta-filter Double Shot)
I treated myself to an espresso, to get the feel of the notes, The blackberry notes almost giving a clean citrus flavour to me in the smell and taste. This bean provides a great crema.

Third Cup + Beyond
As any review should be this is completely honest, It's a big win for me the bag is nearly complete after 4 days!

Would I recommend?
Yes, Yes, Yes Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters are a great roaster and very reasonably priced (£6.95 250g) As an all rounder for my home I would be buying again!
I'm looking forward to trying others from this roaster.
